Agustín Amigó - About
Agustín Amigó is a composer of calm instrumental music for solo classical guitar. He creates intimate pieces that blend emotional simplicity with the warm, expressive voice of nylon strings. His music is minimalist, melodic, and reflective — shaped by silence, subtle atmosphere, and a deep sense of stillness. Each composition invites the listener to slow down, breathe, and listen more deeply.
Born in Tenerife, Agustín reached the finals of the Jugend Musiziert competition in Valencia at the age of thirteen with one of his own compositions. Coming from a family with no musical background, he moved at young age to Germany, where he completed academic degrees and earned a PhD in Macromolecular Chemistry. Alongside his laboratory career, he continued to develop his skills as a guitarist and recording artist until ultimately dedicating himself fully to music as a professional guitarist and composer in 2021.
His early musical path was strongly influenced by Ulli Bögershausen and the world of fingerstyle guitar. Over time, however, he gravitated toward the nylon-string classical guitar, reconnecting with his Spanish and Latin American cultural roots while naturally crossing stylistic boundaries.
During the quiet uncertainty of the COVID pandemic, he turned inward and found refuge in the gentle voice of the guitar:
“In those still and fragile days, I began composing intimate instrumental pieces shaped by reflection and the search for peace. Each melody became a way to restore balance, to breathe more deeply, and to transform silence into something warm, human, and healing.”
Agustín is a prolific creator with 18 solo albums to date, exploring alternative tunings, string combinations, and capo techniques through an autodidactic and highly empirical approach. His most recent album, Gemstones, features a 7-string classical guitar, expanding the instrument’s tonal range with the seventh string tuned down to B♭ and occasionally even A♭.
Over the years, he has collaborated with renowned guitarists including Grammy Award winner Andrew York.
Agustín compositions, including For Robin, A Quiet Summer Night, Manzanilla, and Quietud, have been featured on editorial playlists across major streaming platforms. More than twenty of his works have surpassed one million streams. He currently reaches over 250,000 monthly listeners across streaming platforms and more than 60,000 followers on social media.
Agustín retains 100% ownership of both the composition and master recording rights for more than 150 original works.
In 2024 and 2025, he participated in several international competitions, including:
- Second Place — Instrumental Category, American Songwriter Song Contest 2025 for In Dreams
- Third Place — 9th International Fidelio Guitar Composition Competition for For Robin
- Finalist — 30th Annual USA Songwriting Competition for For Robin
- Finalist — 10th International Fidelio Guitar Composition Competition for the works Preludio and Sleepy Summer
Alongside his original compositions, Agustín also created the side project Edy Hafler. Under this pseudonym, he released the series Guitar Pop Covers, Vol. 1–8, featuring calm solo guitar interpretations of well-known pop songs from past and present. According to Chartmetric rankings, the project has placed among the Top 500 Easy Listening artists worldwide.
